Inflammation results from cell damage or the breach of immune barriers by pathogens and is generally classified into two types. The first, acute inflammation, is initiated by histamine release from mast cells; this process induces vasodilation and increases vascular permeability, thereby leading to characteristic symptoms such as redness, swelling, warmth, pain, and dysfunction, while simultaneously promoting the recruitment of phagocytes to the affected area. In contrast, chronic inflammation represents a persistent, low-level response that arises from the incomplete clearance of pathogens.

In this context, inflammatory mechanisms are central to the pathogenesis of endometriosis, as they contribute to tissue proliferation, adhesion formation, and immune dysregulation within the pelvic cavity. As highlighted in the 2024 article “Endometriosis: A Comprehensive Exploration of Inflammatory Mechanisms and Fertility Implications,” inflammation plays a pivotal role in both the development and progression of endometriosis, significantly influencing the severity of symptoms and associated complications.

What we need are long-lasting solutions.

DAILY ROUTINES

In addition to medical interventions and therapeutic approaches, attention to dietary habits can contribute to the management of this process. In this regard, the consumption of fruits and vegetables with anti-inflammatory properties is of considerable importance, as it may help alleviate symptoms.

This table was developed based on information derived from the aforementioned scientific article. In particular, omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to inhibit leukocyte chemotaxis, reduce the expression of adhesion molecules and interactions between leukocytes and endothelial cells, decrease the generation of eicosanoids derived from omega-6 fatty acids (e.g., arachidonic acid), and suppress inflammatory cytokine synthesis as well as T-cell reactivity (Philip C. Calder, 2013).

Furthermore, grains such as oats and quinoa, along with fish oil supplements, are also recognized for their anti-inflammatory properties and their potential to reduce inflammation. Similarly, turmeric and ginger have been reported to modulate inflammatory pathways, reduce proinflammatory cytokines, and exert antioxidant activities, thereby demonstrating strong anti-inflammatory effects (T. A. Jiang, 2019).

Conversely, sugar, processed foods, fried foods, and refined carbohydrates are among the dietary components that should be avoided. Taken together, this overview highlights the capacity of anti-inflammatory constituents in foods to mitigate endometriosis.

What About Bloating?

According to the published article “Gut Microbiota and Endometriosis: Exploring the Relationship and Therapeutic Implications” (2023), the intestinal microflora provide a strong defense against intestinal pathogens; however, they may be altered under inflammatory conditions affecting the gut, such as endometriosis.

In this context, understanding which nutrients are most effectively metabolized by the body can contribute to a more efficient alleviation of inflammation-related symptoms. For instance, although fiber plays a crucial role in supporting the proper functioning of the digestive system, excessive intake may lead to constipation and bloating, which can exacerbate symptoms depending on the location of endometriosis.

Furthermore, the adequate consumption of probiotics supported with prebiotics (fibers), aimed at maintaining a balanced gut microbiota, may help reduce pain associated with bloating.

The table is compiled using information derived from the referenced website and supporting literature.

This article has been prepared for informational purposes only and should not be regarded as individualized medical advice. for women themselves, for healthcare providers, and for medical research.

A Community of Health Innovators

Being selected for HIIT also means joining a community of entrepreneurs working to transform healthcare.

These founders are building solutions across diagnostics, digital therapeutics, AI, hospital infrastructure, and patient care.

And while our missions may differ, we share the same ambition:

to build tools that improve how healthcare works in the real world.

Looking Ahead

Participating in HIIT is not just a milestone for ENDOless.

It is an opportunity to challenge our assumptions, refine our strategy, and strengthen our collaboration with the healthcare ecosystem.

Because real innovation in health doesn’t happen alone.

It happens when patients, doctors, researchers, entrepreneurs, and institutions work together.

We’re grateful to La French Tech Grand Paris, Digital Medical Hub, and everyone involved in making this program possible.

And we’re excited for what comes next

It is a chronic condition that quietly rearranges your life around pain, fatigue, and uncertainty.

In simple terms, it happens when tissue similar to the uterine lining (endometrium) grows outside the uterus, in places where it doesn’t belong. Each month, this tissue reacts to hormones like a period would – but unlike a period, it has nowhere to go.

So it stays.
It inflames.
It scars.
It hurts.

Over time, that hurt can become many things at once: pain that comes and goes, pain that settles in and refuses to leave, and a level of exhaustion that no amount of sleep can touch. You wake up tired. You go to bed tired. In between, you’re trying to be “fine” for everyone else.

I care about explaining this clearly because I know how disorienting endometriosis can be – not only in the body, but in the mind.

When your pain is irregular, invisible, and hard to describe, you start turning the doubt inward
Maybe I’m exaggerating.
Maybe everyone feels this and just copes better.
Maybe it’s in my head.

I did that. Instead, there are cancelled plans, rearranged careers, postponed dreams, and a constant mental calculation:

If I say yes to this, what will it cost my body later?

This is why I am so demanding about the way we talk about endometriosis.

Words shape reality.

They influence how doctors listen, how workplaces respond, how families support, and how policymakers prioritise.

When we reduce endo to “painful periods”, we erase the people who can’t sit through a meeting, can’t stand upright in the shower, can’t enjoy sex without pain, or whose fertility, work, and relationships are deeply affected.

For me, explaining endometriosis well is not a branding exercise or an awareness slogan. It is a responsibility.

Because understanding what endometriosis really is – in simple, honest, non-dramatic terms – is the first step toward being believed.

And being heard changes everything: it shapes how quickly you are diagnosed, what treatment pathways are open to you, what accommodations you feel legitimate asking for, and how you speak to yourself when your body sets limits you never chose.

Why diagnosis is still so difficult

Endometriosis is notoriously hard to diagnose.

Blood tests are unreliable

Ultrasounds often miss lesions

MRI can help, but is not definitive

Surgery remains the gold standard – and is invasive

Most medical appointments capture snapshots, not patterns.

Pain that comes and goes is easy to minimise.
Data that doesn’t exist can’t be used.

Up to 50% of women with chronic pelvic pain have endometriosis
– The Lancet

This is not a failure of individual doctors.
It is a systemic failure of continuity, data, and context.

Endometriosis doesn’t only affect health.
It affects lives.

Women with endometriosis are 50% more likely to reduce or leave work
– Harvard T.H. I’m proud. And I showed up fully for that moment.

Now let me say the part people don’t always like.

I didn’t win the competition.
I won the category.

And that difference matters more than we’re willing to admit.

The Trophy and the Ceiling

When my name was called, I was the only woman awarded that night.
In the women’s category.

It’s a celebration.
It’s also a boundary.

Because ENDOless is not a “women’s project.”
It’s AI.
It’s health data infrastructure.
It’s regulatory-grade evidence pipelines, research systems, and clinical-facing technology.

We don’t compete for symbolism.
We compete for market dominance, scientific legitimacy, and institutional adoption.

So here’s the uncomfortable question I carried home with me:

Do I want to be exceptional inside a box — or competitive in the real arena?

The Line That Never Left Me

As a child, I watched a cartoon about musketeer dogs.
One sentence burned itself into my memory:

“Do you want to be the best of the worst… or the worst of the best?”

I’ve always wanted to stand with the best — even if it means losing, learning, and fighting my way back up.

Because that’s where real companies are built.
Not in categories.
In markets.

Let’s Talk About the System, Not the Feelings

In France today:

~30% of founders are women

Less than 10% of venture capital funding goes to female-founded startups

In AI and deep tech, that number often falls below 5%

Women-led startups are more likely to win awards and grants

They are significantly less likely to close growth rounds

What does that mean in practice?

Women are often celebrated.
Men are often financed.

Credit Where It’s Due

Let me be clear about something else.

That room was not full of “projects.”
It was full of builders.

Women who are turning craft into brands, care into companies, and conviction into real economic value.

I want to name a few of them — because none of us should be climbing alone:

Ma Face Gym — transforming facial fitness into a structured, accessible wellness practice

Lait Sauvage — uniting ethical sourcing, gastronomy, and entrepreneurship

Pousses et Plantes — bringing sustainable cultivation and local ecosystems to everyday life

Ycao — blending creativity, craftsmanship, and commercial ambition

These founders aren’t competing for a category.
They’re competing in the economy.

And they deserve to be seen that way.

Why This Award Still Matters

This demi-finale win isn’t a finish line.

It’s a signal flare.

It says:
“You’re visible now. The real test starts here.”

Because the next rooms I want ENDOless in are not asking:

“How does it feel to be a woman founder?”

They’re asking:

“How defensible is your data?”
“How fast can you scale across health systems?”
“What makes your AI clinically and regulatorily unavoidable?”
“Why will institutions choose you over global platforms?”

That’s the game I’m training for.

Gratitude — and a Promise

To Grand Paris Seine Ouest and Made in 92: thank you for putting ENDOless on that stage. I don’t take that lightly.

But I didn’t start this company to win a category.

I started it to help build health infrastructure that Europe can’t afford to ignore.

So yes — I’ll take the trophy.

And then I’ll take my seat in the harder room.

The one where there are no labels.
No special lanes.
No symbolic wins.

Only changed my trajectory.

Thanks to Girls & Tech, I was able to go to Las Vegas, present ENDOless, meet extraordinary people, and — maybe most importantly — confirm something deep inside me:

👉 The choices I made were right.
👉 What we’re building matters.
👉 Women do belong on those stages.

In France, donations to associations like Girls & Tech are tax-deductible, which means your support goes further than you think.
For me, it will directly help ENDOless cover part of our costs and keep building a better, fairer healthcare system.

This year… was hard.

It’s hard to build something meaningful without the right people around you.
It’s hard to keep going when relationships fall apart.
It’s hard to divorce.
It’s hard to hold a vision when everything around you feels unstable.
It’s hard not to give up — especially when you’re tired, doubting yourself, and still showing up.

Some thoughts from this year, unfiltered:

It was lonely

It was heavy

It required more courage than I expected

And I didn’t quit

If I had to sum it up in one sentence, I’d say:
“Not bad.”

<img

Chronic diseases like endometriosis affect millions of people worldwide, yet they often remain difficult to diagnose and manage. ENDOless represents a new approach to understanding these conditions by collecting continuous data from wearable devices. Rather than relying solely on occasional doctor visits and patient memory, wearable technology offers an unprecedented window into how the body responds to disease over time

Understanding State Changes in Chronic Conditions

Chronic diseases rarely remain static. Conditions like endometriosis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and autoimmune disorders fluctuate through periods of flare-ups and remission. Wearable devices track these state changes by monitoring physiological signals that reflect the body's autonomic nervous system balance, inflammation levels, stress responses, and recovery capacity

Heart rate variability (HRV) serves as one of the most powerful indicators of these shifts. This metric measures the variation in time between consecutive heartbeats and reflects how well the nervous system adapts to stress. When HRV decreases, it signals sympathetic nervous system dominance — the body's "fight or flight" mode — which often precedes symptom flare-ups in chronic conditions. Studies show that HRV biofeedback can improve outcomes in patients with chronic diseases by helping them recognize early warning signs of deterioration

Sleep patterns provide another critical window into disease states. Disrupted sleep architecture — specifically reduced deep sleep and REM sleep percentages — correlates strongly with next-day fatigue, pain sensitivity, and overall disease burden. By tracking sleep efficiency, sleep debt accumulation, and stage distribution continuously, wearable devices can identify patterns that might remain invisible during infrequent clinical assessments

The Power of Predictive Models

The true value of continuous monitoring lies not just in observing current states, but in predicting future ones. Machine learning algorithms can analyze thousands of data points from wearable sensors to identify patterns that precede symptom exacerbations, often days before patients consciously recognize changes

These predictive models combine multiple physiological signals into composite risk scores. For example, a prediction algorithm might detect that a specific combination of declining HRV, elevated resting heart rate, poor sleep quality, and increased activity load precedes an endometriosis flare-up with 80-85% accuracy. Advanced systems use techniques like Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) neural networks to recognize temporal patterns across days or weeks, capturing how accumulated stress and insufficient recovery interact to trigger disease activity

Current wearable platforms like Garmin's Body Battery and Oura's Readiness Score already demonstrate this approach on a consumer level. These systems calculate composite fatigue scores by weighing HRV metrics (30% contribution), sleep efficiency (25%), training load (20%), resting heart rate (15%), and recovery time (10%). However, disease-specific applications like ENDOless can fine-tune these models for the unique physiological signatures of endometriosis and related chronic conditions

Multi-Modal Data Collection

Effective predictive monitoring requires integrating multiple data streams. Wearable devices now capture cardiovascular metrics through photoplethysmography (PPG), movement patterns via accelerometers, skin temperature variations, respiratory rate, and even stress indicators like galvanic skin response. Each sensor provides a different perspective on the body's state

For endometriosis specifically, research shows that wearable technology can track pain patterns, correlate them with menstrual cycle phases, monitor sleep disruptions, and identify activity limitations. Devices can detect pelvic floor muscle tension through electromyography sensors, providing objective measurements of a common pain source in endometriosis patients. This multi-dimensional view creates a comprehensive picture impossible to obtain through patient self-reporting alone

From Reactive to Proactive Healthcare

Traditional healthcare operates reactively: patients experience symptoms, seek medical attention, and receive treatment. Wearable-based predictive systems enable a proactive approach. When algorithms detect early warning signs — such as a sustained decline in HRV coupled with rising inflammatory markers — interventions can begin before symptoms become severe

This shift has practical implications for daily life. Someone with endometriosis might receive a notification that their physiological data suggests increased risk for a flare-up in 48-72 hours, allowing them to adjust work schedules, modify exercise intensity, prioritize rest, or implement stress-reduction techniques preemptively. For chronic disease management, this predictive capacity can reduce healthcare utilization, prevent emergency situations, and significantly improve quality of life

The effectiveness of wearable-based monitoring depends on scientific rigor. Current systems achieve 80-90% accuracy for physical fatigue detection when validated against clinical gold standards. HRV measurements from quality wearables show 95% agreement with medical-grade ECG equipment. Sleep-wake detection reaches 86-89% accuracy compared to polysomnography, the clinical gold standard

However, challenges remain. Sensor accuracy decreases during movement, algorithms require personalization periods of 7-14 days to establish individual baselines, and population diversity in training datasets needs improvement. Despite these limitations, research consistently demonstrates that wearable devices can predict health outcomes when properly implemented

Personalization Through Baseline Establishment

One size does not fit all in physiological monitoring. What constitutes a "normal" resting heart rate or HRV value varies significantly between individuals based on age, fitness level, genetics, and health status. Effective systems like ENDOless establish personalized baselines through continuous monitoring over weeks, identifying each person's unique patterns

These personalized models then detect deviations from individual norms rather than comparing against population averages. When someone's HRV drops 30% below their personal baseline — even if still within "normal" population ranges — the system flags this as potentially significant. This approach dramatically improves sensitivity for detecting meaningful changes that might otherwise go unnoticed

Wearable technology for chronic disease management continues evolving rapidly. Emerging sensors can measure continuous glucose, inflammatory markers, cortisol levels, and even brain activity through minimal electroencephalography (EEG) arrays. Integration with artificial intelligence enables increasingly sophisticated pattern recognition that learns from millions of patient-years of data while preserving individual privacy through federated learning approaches

For conditions like endometriosis that have historically suffered from diagnostic delays averaging 7-10 years, these technologies offer transformative potential. By making the invisible visible — capturing the continuous physiological changes that patients experience but struggle to articulate during brief medical appointments — wearable devices create an objective record that supports earlier diagnosis, more precise treatment adjustments, and ultimately better outcomes

The data collected by platforms like ENDOless serves multiple purposes: empowering individuals with real-time insights into their health, enabling healthcare providers to make evidence-based decisions, and contributing to research that advances understanding of chronic diseases for future generations. As sensor technology improves and algorithms become more sophisticated, the gap between what wearables can detect and what clinical medicine can diagnose continues to narrow, promising a future where chronic disease management becomes truly personalized, proactive, and effective
